Standard Timber Buying Procedure After we get your permission to mark the trees, we go into the woodlot and put a spot of paint on the trees that we tally for harvest. We then give you a price based on our calculation of the trees we have marked. We give you a deposit when the contract is signed, then we pay the entire amount before any cutting is done. We try to arrange our harvest activities when it is best for you and when the weather is suitable. This enables us to do a better job in harvesting your timber. Pictured below left is a fresly cut stump next to the Mahantongo Creek, a favorite trout stream. This stump was cut close to the ground to keep the woodlot looking nice and to assure a quality harvest.
Above right is a picture of a retired skid trail approximately two years after the harvest. This is in a selective cut done by one of our logging crews on our company property.
We buy trees for sawlogs as small as 12" in diameter chest height. If you only want trees marked over 14" or 16", that is what we will do. If you want a clearcut to increase the deer herd, etc. we will do that also. It is your decision. The logs that are taken to our sawmill are sawed into lumber. Please feel free to give us a call if you have timberland and you will be surprised how much it is worth. It costs nothing to get an estimate and we will be very fair with you. Ph. (717) 365-3883 |
